Mr. Lewis Franklin Dixon, age 73, of Blackshear, passed away Saturday morning (7/23/22) at Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah following an extended illness.

Born April 29, 1949, in Blackshear, he was a son of the late Frank Asbury and Minor Lee King Dixon. He was a 1967 graduate of Blackshear High School and was drafted into the United States Army, serving in the Vietnam War. He then worked as a longtime self-employed carpenter and was a member of the American Legion Post 181 in Blackshear.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jason Dixon; and a son-in-law, Wayne Council.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Debbie Griffis Dixon of Blackshear; 2 daughters, Michelle Council and Melissa Dixon, both of Blackshear, son, Justin Dixon (wife Wendy) of Madison, GA; 6 grandchildren, Marlee Council, Tyler Council, Dalton Robson, Logan Robson, Jason Dixon, and Justin Roberson; 4 great grandchildren, Zayden Council, Grayson Council, Nash Council, and I'Vee Council; 4 sisters, Carrie Jean Clark of Blackshear, Jeanelle Strickland of Atlanta, Polly Harrison (husband Billy) of Blackshear, and Audrey McMillian of Manor; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

A funeral service took place on Tuesday (7/26/22) at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Hart Funeral Home. Burial followed in the Enon Cemetery.
