Paul Donald McLarty, age 85, an Army veteran, went home to be with the Lord on July 23, 2022. He was born February 7,1937 in Villa Rica, GA the son of the late Rufus Dean and Virgie Cole McLarty and lived most of his life in Yatesville, GA. He was self-employed for more than forty years, furnishing and installing hardwood floors throughout the Atlanta area and parts of the southeast.
Paul was a simple businessman teaching by example the important lesson of spending less than you make and saving when times are good for when times are not. The plan served him well making for his success. He was known for being resourceful - finding quick, clever ways to overcome obstacles and tackling any mechanical issue that came his way. It was well known o family and friends that he enjoyed spending time in Florida, fishing, riding golf carts, fixing things and having a small garden each year. He loved cooking for his family and sharing what he had with others.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Dorothy McLarty; a grandson, Sean McLarty; one brother and four sisters.
Survivors include his son, Danny (Veronica) McLarty of Winston, GA; his daughter, Letitia (Jeff) Cope of Julietta, GA; four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren; his brother, Raymond McLarty of Villa Rica, GA; and many nieces and nephews.
Paul will be greatly missed by family and friends, but they are thankful that he is now in the presence of the Lord.
The family will receive friends at J. Hoyt Thomas Funeral Home Tuesday, July 26,2022 from 9:30AM until 11:00 AM.
Funeral services will be held, following the visitation, at 11:00 A.M. from the chapel of J. Hoyt Thomas Funeral Home with the Rev, Jeff Powell officiating. Interment will follow in Melrose Hills Memorial Cemetery in Paulding County.
