John F. Mercer, 86, of Moundsville, died Friday, July 22, 2022 at WVU-Reynolds Memorial Hospital.
He was born March 11, 1936 in Moundsville, WV; the son of the late Floyd and Monica Rustile Mercer.
John was retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel-Yorkville Plant; a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church; Earl Francis Post 3, American Legion, and Moundsville VFW Post 437.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Frances M. Mercer; one brother, Jim Mercer.
Survivors include five children, Becky Willis of Moundsville, Monica (Ralph) Terry of Nettie, WV, Ralph (Debbie) Mercer, Jonette (Kevin) Holmes all of Moundsville, Chris (Jeff) Wetherell of East Liverpool, OH; one brother, Harold Mercer of Sistersville, WV; nine grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a large extended family.
Family will receive friends Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8pm at Grisell Funeral Home and Crematory, 400 Jefferson Ave., Moundsville, where funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11am with Fr. That Son Ngoc Nguyen officiating.
Interment in Valley Brook Memorial Gardens, Moundsville.
