James Lamar Patterson Jr., was born on August 26, 1949 and lived to be 72 years old; passing away on Monday, July 11, 2022.
He is survived by his daughters Courtney Green and her three children, and Miranda Holmon and stepson Kevin Thompson; as well as his son in law Dewayne Holmon. He had three grandsons Nathan, James and Trey Holmon.
He is preceded in death by his mother and father Lucille Dendy and James Patterson, his sister Barbara Whatley, and his son Jason Patterson.
He was born in Jackson, Mississippi but moved to Texas at 9 months old and lived in Houston his entire life. He attended Reagan High School in the Heights, and South Texas Junior College for an associate's degree in Business. However he found his true passion working for the United States Postal Service, where he stayed for 47 years. His customers and coworkers at the Cornerstone Post Office were like his second family. He was the happiest when he was working, and he was great at what he did. He worked for the United States Postal Service as a mail carrier for 47 years. He loved being outdoors, watching the Astros, listening to country music and working in the yard. He enjoyed spending time with his dogs Little Bit, Sugar Bear and Peaches. He was best known by his family and friends for being loving, caring, fun, and outgoing. He was an avid sports fan - baseball, golf, bowling and football were his favorites. He was a very charitable person, donating to many of the local animal shelters and children's hospitals. He loved yearly trips to Galveston and Lake Livingston, and he was the greatest storyteller to his children and grandsons. He will be missed and remembered by many.
Visitation will be held Friday, July 29th from 9:00AM to 11:00AM with a funeral service beginning at 11:00AM at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home. A graveside committal will take place at 12:30PM at Earthman Resthaven Cemetery. Lunch will be held following the committal service at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home.
