Walter "Dean" Allen, 64, of Oakboro, NC passed away on July 20, 2022 at Atrium Health Northeast in Concord, NC.

Born September 27, 1957 to the late Robert T Allen and Carra Austin Allen. He worked for Rocky River Electric for 10 years, and for Stanly County Schools until his retirement.. He loved his church family, and his wonderful friends and neighbors, Doug and Irene, his second mom and dad, Bud and Sara, and longtime buddy, Reggie.

His favorite role in life was being an uncle to his nephew. He delighted in spoiling kids and did it regularly. His passion was fishing and tractors, which he enjoyed every chance he got. He was a very talented wood worker and did projects for family and friends. He will be remembered for his kind, and caring ways.

He is survived by a brother and a nephew. He was preceded in death by sister-in-law Debbie W. Allen.

The body will lie in state at Hartsell Funeral Home in Albemarle on Monday, July 25, 2022 from 10:00am - 6:00pm. The family will have a graveside service, Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at 11:00am at Smith Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Oakboro, North Carolina. Pastor Kinney Wallace will officiate.

Because of Dean's love for Christmas and giving to others, especially children, memorials may be given to West Stanly Christian Ministries, PO Box 27, Stanfield, NC 28163 for the "Day of Giving", which brings Christmas to many children in our area.
