On Thursday forenoon there passed peacefully away after being laid up for some years more or less, one of the oldest residents in the person of Mrs. Jacob Cuntz. Deceased was born in Germany and after her marriage to the late Mr. Cuntz, who predeceased her by nearly 21 years, they emigrated to Canada and took up their residence here [Conestogo] and had since continuously resided here. She attained the ripe old age of 84 years, 4 months, and 14 days and leaves to mourn her death 5 sons, Geo., in Wisconsin, Chas. in Shoal Lake, Man., Jacob at home, Noah in Kitchener and Henry in Baden, also 2 daughters, Phoebe, Mrs. Wm. Ziegler, of Bridgeport, and Eleanor, Mrs. Walter J. Snider, Conestogo. Besides these, one brother survives, Adam Herrmann of near Elmira.
The funeral was held on Saturday afternoon and was largely attended by the many friends and acquaintances from far and near who came to pay a last tribute of respect to the departed. The bereaved family have the sympathy of the community.
