Glodene (Hunter) Gilliland, age 94, passed away Thursday, January 24, at Garden Villa in Bloomington with her family by her side. Born in Bloomington on August 24, 1913, to Harley "Harve" and Bertha (Robertson) Hunter, she married the late Fremont Gilliland on January 2, 1932. They were both very hard working farmers. She also worked at Johnson Hardware for many years, as she still attended to the farm. She has been a member of the Farm Bureau for the past 64 years. She was a Guild member, they won a blue ribbon at the State Fair for the quilt that they made. She belonged to Little Union Baptist Church in Unionville and also attended New Prospect Baptist Church in Dolan. She enjoyed both churches very much. She was a very independent woman, a perfectionist with everything she accomplished. She enjoyed baking, cooking, quilting, gardening, and being with her family and friends. One thing that she was quite famous for was her amazing cobblers. Everyone always had a request for them. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Fremont, in 1968; one son, William Harley "Bud" Gilliland; two grandchildren, Bradley Clark, in 1988 and Fremont Clark, in 2004; three great-grandchildren, Gary Ivan Clark, in 1976, Sammie Jo Flick, in 1988, and Anna Gilliland; two sisters, Margaret Fleener Orman and Jeanette Hunter Hanson; and one brother, Wilburn J. Hunter.
