Mr. Frank VanderDoes, 87, passed away Thursday, March 12, 1978, at a Hendricks, Minnesota hospital following a lengthy illness.
Mr. VanderDoes was born May 29, 1890 at Linschoten, Holland, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Adrian VanderDoes. He came to the United States to Orange City, Iowa in 1910. He worked there for three years before moving to South Shore, SD. He married Jennie DeWilde on February 9, 1915 at Twin Brooks. They moved to the Twin Brooks area in 1923 and to Gary in 1940 where they farmed west of Gary.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Gary and was a member of the choir of the church and an active participant in all church activities.
He is survived by two sons, Adrian of Richland, Washington, and Frans, of Gary, SD; one daughter, Mrs. Marian Nelson of Gary; two sisters, Aajge and Derkje of the Netherlands; five grandchildren and four great grandsons. His wife preceded him in death. Funeral services were held on Monday, March 27, 1978 at 11 AM from the Gary United Methodist Church with the Rev. Richard Salmonson officiating.

Funeral services were held on Monday, March 27, 1978 at 11:00 a.m. from the Gary United Methodist Church with the Rev. Richard Salmonson officiating. Mrs. Harry Olsen sang "My God and I" and "How Great Thou Art" accompanied by Mrs. Robert Gage. The congregation sang "I Want A Principle Within". Casketbearers were Maynard Cochrane, Arnold Rogne, Oscar Almos, Claude Cadwell, Fred Clarksean and LaVerne "Pete" Hults. Burial was in the Grandview Cemetery, Gary, S. Dak.

Eng's Funeral Home of Clear Lake and Toronto was in charge of the arrangements.
