A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 25, 2022, at 12:30 PM EST in the Chapel of Vance Brooks Funeral Home . A private interment will follow at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mr. Parsons was born in Phenix City, Alabama the son of the late James "Homer" Parsons, Sr. and Nellie Mae Newsome Parsons.
Homer spent his entire life in Phenix City, Alabama working as a carpenter for Charles Webb Construction. He also was employed with the Civil Service for eighteen years at Ft. Benning, GA as a small arms weapons repairer. Mr. Parsons served his church family at Summerville Baptist Church as a deacon, Adult and Senior Choir Member and a food closet volunteer. He enjoyed fishing, bowling and coaching his children in softball. Above all, he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Parsons is preceded in death by his wife of 58 years Shirley Ann Parsons.
Left to cherish his memory is a daughter Tammy Renee Phoenix and Roy of Phenix City, AL; son Gregory James "Greg" Parsons and Anita of Phenix City, AL; sister Judy Parsons Wood; and extended family members and close friends.
The family will accept flowers or contributions can be made in Mr. Parson's memory to Summerville Baptist Church's General Fund.
