Edith McLean was born on January 26, 1911. She was the daughter of Daniel and Ann McLean. She was baptized and confirmed into faith at the Inkster Presbyterian Church in Inkster, ND. Edith received her education in the Dahlen, ND, area and graduated from high school at the Park River Agriculture High School, Park River, ND. Edith was united in marriage to Roy W. West in December, 1931 in Grand Forks, ND. The couple farmed in Plymouth township, living on the West Family farm until 1960. Roy passed away in 1960. Edith remained on the farm until 1991. In 1991, Edith moved to Larimore, ND, and lived there for two years. For the past 12 years, Edith was a resident at the Northwood Health Center, Northwood, ND. Dot was an excellent cook and baker. She enjoyed cooking for her family, friends, and neighbors. She loved to take care of her animals, particularly cats. Dot enjoyed watching the Lawrence Welk Show, she was a big fan. She also liked to visit with her friends on the telephone.
Edith ""Dot' McLean West, age 94, died on Sunday, October 16, 2005 at the Northwood Health Care Center in Northwood, ND.
Edith is survived by one son Richard (Elaine), Niagara, ND; one son-in-law, Duane Erickson of East Grand Forks, MN; six grandchildren: Julie Sandbakken of Bismarck, ND; Cynthia (Allan) Pic of Niagara, ND; Steven (Nancy) Roland of Petersburg, ND; Jodi Wack of East Grand Forks, MN; Shelly (Skip) Day of Hurlburt Field, FL; Shane (Kristi) Erickson of East Grand Forks, MN; and 15 great-grandchildren. Edith was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two daughters, Carole Roland and Adele Erickson; and one son-in-law James Roland.

Funeral Services: Thursday, October 20, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. from Elk Valley Lutheran Church, rural McCanna, ND. Visitation: One hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Interment: Inkster Cemetery , Inkster, ND. The Bakke Funeral Home of Larimore, ND, is handling the arrangements.
