John "Daddo" Aaron Bender, 81, died July 12, 2022, with his family by his side in Lynwood, California.
Daddo was born June 20, 1941, in South Gate, CA. He was preceded in death by Aaron Milton Bender (father) of Nebraska, Margaret Jane Pepper (mother) of Arizona and Milton Bender (brother) of Huntington Park, CA. In his early years he explored the world. He was both a sports fanatic and a collector of all things related to sports, including any item that was autographed. He has attended sporting events in nearly every professional stadium in the US for both MLB and the NFL. He was an avid collector of WWII memorabilia and had a vast knowledge of the individual battles of our second world war. His childhood hero was Hopalong Cassidy, and as time passed, he grew to become enamored with Laurel & Hardy of which he has quite a collection of memorabilia. He attended their fan club meetings on a regular basis with his childhood friend Jim Campbell.
Daddo was a family man with a heart of gold who put all others before himself. He had a witty sense of humor and brought a smile to everyone.
A graveside service with casual attire will be held on July 27, 2022, from 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. at Rose Hills, Whittier, CA.
