He served his country in the United States Marines participating in Contingency Operation off the coast of Beirut, Lebanon. He also participated in Operation Provide Comfort, Encourage Hope and Force Hope. After his serving his country, he attended college in Virginia. Billy was employed as a computer specialist. He had been a resident of Franklin for the past 15 years previously living in Richmond, Virginia. He was of the Catholic faith and was a member of the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Franklin, Texas.
Billy's unique character and carefree spirit will never be forgotten. He is best described by his family as a jokester and teaser. If he loved you, were sure to be a receiver of his teasing. He enjoyed gardening, canning, fishing and reading. He spent many hours reading God's word and recently dedicated his life to the church. Billy was most grateful for his special God mothers, Jean Kirk and Linda Braswell. He loved his Lord and Savior, family, church family, country and his dog, Buddy.
He is preceded in death by his father, William A. Franklin.
He is survived by his mother and father, Sandra Franklin Baxter and Don Baxter of Franklin; his sister: Sandra Franklin Wade and husband Gary of Sevierville, Tennessee, Catherine Franklin Escobedo and husband Larry of Pasadena and Tracey Baxter Swift and husband Bowen of Las Vegas, Nevada; 4 nieces: Rachel, Hannah, Katie and GiGi; 3 nephews: Zachary, Obadiah and J.W.
A mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, July 22, 2022 at 10:00 A.M. at the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Franklin. Burial will follow in the Franklin Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 21, 2022 from 6:00-8:00 P.M. with a rosary recited at 7:00 P.M. at McCauley Funeral Home in Franklin.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in Billy's name to the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church 1731 W FM 1644 Franklin, Texas 77856
