He was a veteran of WWII. I hope LTC stands for Lt. Col. as that is what he was.

A family friend of Donald Armstrong asked me to add the following information. I added it on February 26, 2011.

LTC Donald Neil Armstong was retired from the USAF in 1970. He was twice awarded the Silver Star for WWII. He also served in the Korean Conflict and Vietnam. He was one the most highly decorated pilots in the Air Force at the time of his retirement. His son 1LT Brian Armstrong was killed in a Training accident while flying a US Marine Helicopter in Hawaii in the summer or 1976.

He married Vanetta May Ellen Toy on 2 Nov 1941 in Corvallis, Benton, Oregon.
