OBITUARY - The late Mrs Hendry, wife of Mr Alex Hendry, of Masterton, whose death occurred on Saturday last, was 73 years of age and had been ailing for some time. Born in Nelson, she was before her marriage, Miss Priscilla Patchings, daughter of Mr and Mrs James Patchings, pioneer settlers of the Nelson province.
Mrs Hendry has been a resident of Masterton for 29 years. An indefatigable church worker during the whole of her lifetime, she was a foundation member of the Masterton Congregational Church and an active member of its ladies' Guild. Mr and Mrs Hendry celebrated their golden wedding in January last.
Mrs Hendry's surviving immediate relatives, to whom sincere sympathy will be extended in their bereavement, are her husband and six sons - Messrs Percy Hendry (Dannevirke), William Hendry (Masterton), Colin Hendry (Hastings), Nelson Hendry (Wellington), Hector Hendry (Bulls) and Alex Hendry Wellington.
The funeral will leave the residence, 35 Pownall Street, for the Masterton Cemetery.
