Gloria was the beloved wife of 53 years to the late Leonard (Lee) Young Sr. who together raised their family in Hamden, CT. Grieving her loss are her four children Joyce Young of Prospect, Leonard Young Jr. of Hamden, Michael (Karen) Young of Southington and Dean (Amy) Young of Cheshire. In addition, she was a doting grandmother to Carissa (Michael) Lockett of Hamden, Thomas (Alison) Buchter of Tolland, MA, Alison (Paul) Fazio of Middletown, Tyler Young of Meriden, and Andrew and Kaitlyn Young of Cheshire. She was also proud of and devoted to her seven great-grandchildren: Matthew, Emelia, Nathan and Brennan Lockett of Hamden and Emily, Jake and Mabel Buchter of Tolland, MA. She also leaves her dear sister-in-law Frances (Jerry) Giovanelli of Trumbull, and many cherished nieces, nephews and cousins. She is also survived by her faithful dog Bonnie, who will miss her unconditional love and unending treats.
Gloria considered being a mother and wife her primary purpose in life. However, as her children grew, she joined the work force part-time, then later full-time, in the Medical Records Department of Yale New Haven Hospital. There she met many friends and co-workers whom she kept in touch with even after her retirement.
Gloria was very proud of her Italian heritage. She was fortunate to visit relatives in Milan and Venice numerous times throughout her life, most recently at the age of 90. She was always happiest spending time with family and friends. Whether New Year's Day open houses, picnics in Bethany or commemorating every holiday, she never missed an opportunity to celebrate with those she loved. Her kindness and welcoming spirit will be missed by all who knew her and were fortunate to be a part of her life.
