Kathy, the daughter of Thomas Smith Jr. and Julia Smith of Greenville, was born May 11, 1958, in Boston, Massachusetts.
After briefly attending the North Carolina School of the Arts, she graduated from J.H. Rose High School, then received an Associate's Degree in Cosmetology from Vance Granville Community College, where she also taught classes and mentored students. After years pursuing various avocations, she became a home health care provider and friend to many transitioning souls.
Kathy was a passionate animal lover and remarkable cook, who lived a plainspoken life of devotion and good humour.
