James E. "Buddy" Adkins, age 79, passed away on Thursday, July 14, 2022, at the Carilion New River Valley Medical Center in Radford, VA. Born August 20, 1942, in Oakwood, VA, he was the son of the late Wilkes and Brooke Adkins. Even with the struggles he had throughout his life, Buddy always was a joy to be around and would always bring a smile to whoever was around.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Junior Adkins; one sister, Bonnie Adkins; Cunningham and Betty Mutter, with whom he had made his home for more than 50 years; and his beloved friend, Donnie Bradley.

Survivors include Sue Bradley of Rich Creek, VA; and special friends, Ricky and Tamera Green of Rich Creek, VA, Patty Branscome of Princeton, WV, and Fred Woodbury of Eggleston, VA. Also, a special thank you to the staff at Heritage Hall Rich Creek for the excellent care that they provided the last three months.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM on Sunday, July 24, 2022, at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel in Peterstown, WV, with Pastors Ricky Green and Doug Armstrong officiating. Burial will follow at Peterstown Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1:00PM until time of services on Sunday at the funeral home.
