Kenneth R. Jones, 89, of Woodville, passed away peacefully Sunday afternoon, surrounded by his family.
Kenneth owned and operated Jones Grocery Store at Butler Mill. The Store was a family owned store that his parents opened in the late twenties to the early 30s, he later ran the store with his wife Betty until she passed away in 2010 and then later on operated the store with help from his son-in-law Booge. At the age of 87 he suffered a heart attack and the store was closed. The store mostly serviced the area around Butler Mill but people were known to come from far and wide to get a bologna and cheese sandwich and sit and talk with Mr. Jones. He is fondly remembered by the community as being a part of their family.
He was preceded in death by wife, Betty Anderson Jones; parents, Myrtle and Earnest Jones; daughter, Sherriel Childress; grandson, Mickey Childress and sister, Pauline Lawing.
He is survived four daughters, Anita (Danny) Wilder, Darlene (Jerry) Ayers, Glenda (Mike) Foster and Teresa (Ronnie) Troup; niece, Peggy (Jim) O'Reagan, three nephews; Ron Walls, Dickie Walls and Bryan (Diane) Walls, twelve grandchildren; twenty five great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren, and many friends who would come to the store for a sandwich, drink or just to talk.
