Jimmy Lee Rhodes was born March 9, 1948 to Jessie Lee Rhodes and Loyce Tress Rhodes in Houston, Texas. He passed away on July 16, 2022 at the age of 74.

Jimmy was a graduate of the Galena Park Independent School District. He went on to complete his Bachelors Degree at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville Texas and his Masters Degree at the University of Houston in Clear Lake, Texas.

He returned to the Galena Park school district and taught Texas History at North Shore Junior High School until he retired after 30 years. Later, he was called back by the school district to teach the High School Credit Recovery Program for students that were having problems and needed help to be able to graduate. Jimmy was very devoted to these students. If they did not show up for class, he would go to their homes to get them.

Jimmy loved teaching, gardening, deer hunting with his father and friends, raising Axis deer on his ranch, and he wrote and published 3 books of poetry.

Jimmy is survived by:
3 sisters: Geri Murphy of Carrollton, Texas, Joyce Sexton of Huntsville, Texas and Daphyne Clowers of Huntsville, Texas; 3 nieces: Michelle Mitchell of Dallas, Texas, Angelia Garvin (Danny) of Kenefick, Texas and Annette Olivier of Huntsville, Texas; And several great-nieces, great-nephews and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie Lee Rhodes and Loyce Tress Rhodes.
