Cheryl Ann Taylor (Cheri), 73, of Welling, OK, passed from this life, Friday, July 15, 2022. She was a wonderful wife and mother who was always there when her family needed her. She had many friends and was a well-loved member of the community in Welling.

Cheri was born Tuesday, March 18, 1949, in Delta, Colorado, to Homer Paul Burson (Homer) and Laura Mae Burson (Mae Gerken). She was the oldest of Homer and Mae's eight children. Cheri's love of family started with her love of her brothers and sisters, which continued in all seasons of her life. Cheri was a mother to many, teaching others how to live a God centered life and how to keep your home a haven.

Cheri married the love of her life, Leon Taylor, in Welling, Oklahoma on October 20, 1967 and they spent a wonderful 54 years together. To this wonderful union, God blessed them with six children, eighteen grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Their house was always full of family, brethren, laughter, and peace, even through the hardest of times.

Cheri and Leon loved to explore the world and were lifelong travel companions. This love of travel influenced their kids and inspired the love of travel within their own families. They turned all of Dad's work conferences into family vacations and experiences, even visiting all 50 states during Cheri's lifetime. While on their vacations, she often thought of others, bringing gifts, buying trinkets, sending postcards, and taking photos to share the memories. They often visited their favorite vacation spot, Campsite #3 at the Rosy Lane on the Taylor River in Colorado.

God was the center of Cheri's life and she was a prominent member of the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn. She was baptized December 15, 1968 by Brother George Sweet in the creek at the Welling church campground.

Her family and grandchildren were the most important to her. She loved hearing about her grandchildren's stories and always found time to spend with each person individually. Cheri enjoyed her lovely landscape, flowers and watching the birds. Cheri was elegant and full of grace and loved all things beautiful. She loved music, especially gospel and classical. She always had a song in her heart, loved to sing, and often graced us with her piano, organ, and accordion performances. Her love of music led to her kids singing in choirs and playing multiple instruments.

Cheri was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Mae Burson; brother, Gene Burson; and sister, Diana Sanders; and her son-in-law Skyler Holman.

Cheri is survived by her children:
Brent Taylor and Lisa Taylor, of Statham, Georgia
Stephen Taylor of Tulsa, Oklahoma
Nolan Taylor and Charity Taylor of Agra, Oklahoma
Christine Rule and Matt Rule of Bella Vista, Arkansas
Michelle Britton and Wes Britton of Welling, Oklahoma
