He was born on September 24, 1948 in El Dorado, AR.
James was a member of First Presbyterian Church. He retired after 40 years with Borden Milk Company. He loved coffee and playing golf, and he loved his family. He loved the Arkansas Razorbacks especially when they were playing football.
He was preceded in death by his father, James A. Perry; his step-father, Bob Smith; his nephew, Jamie Perry; and his brother-in-law, Carl Buckley, Jr.
James is survived by his wife of 50 years, Laura Perry of Camden, AR; his son, Shannon Perry (Staci) of Camden, AR; his grandson, Dylan Hicks (Ashley) of Camden, AR; his great-grandchildren, Kimber Hicks of Camden, AR and Brodie Hicks of Camden, AR; his mother, Laura Jean Dews-Perry-Smith of Camden, AR; his siblings, Mark Perry (Theresa) of Camden, AR and Kaye Cox (Jesse) of Fayetteville, AR; and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Larry Braden and the OCMC Hospice Team. They were all so caring and kind and made this hard journey bearable.
The memorial services will be held in Proctor Funeral Home Chapel with Bro Sherman Brooks officiating.
