She was born in Green Cove Springs and had lived in Welaka since 1949, coming from Green Cove Springs. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Welaka and was a former member of First Baptist Church in San Mateo. As a Baptist she had taught Sunday School, worked with the Royal Ambassadors and served as a church secretary and treasurer. She sang in the choir and was active in the WMU. She was formerly employed by Dr. Wolfenden and Dr. Ahmad.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jacob Carstensen and Gertrude Carstensen Thames; her stepfather, Claude Thames; and sister, Ruby Carstensen.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Friday in Hope Cemetery in Theresa with Rev. Steve Brown officiating. Visitation is 6-8 tonight at Masters Funeral Home in Pelatka. (Palatka Daily News Obituary dated 11 Jul 1996.)
