Beloved husband and father, died Tuesday October 18, 2005 in Cedar Hill, Texas. He was born to Ezekiel Wilson Warren and Lillie Davis Warren in Emerson, Arkansas on Sept. 6, 1916. After a graduating from Emerson High School he attended Magnolia A & M. Ben received his liberal arts degree from the University of Arkansas. He taught school and became the superintendent of schools in Emerson before joining the Navy in 1942. Ben served as a Naval officer for four years during WWII. He was stationed on several aircraft carriers and performed navigation duties with future President Gerald Ford. After the war, Ben enrolled at the University of Texas, Austin and received his Masters degree in Spanish and French. while in Austin, he met his future wife, Mary Louise Grosse. They married August 1, 1948 and moved back to Emerson, Arkansas where Ben resumed his position as Superintendent of Schools. Two years later, their son Richard Eric was born on July 31, 1950. While in Arkansas, Ben earned his Doctorate in Curriculum Education. He was a professor of Curriculum of Pittsburg College in Pittsburg, Kansas before moving to Cedar Hill, Texas where he was employed in the offices of Genaro's Miller Beer Distributors. One of Ben's greatest loves was music. He started piano lessons when he was 6 years old, and taught himself to play by ear and sight. Ben loved to play for family and friends and would enthrall them with classical and popular music, as well as spirituals. Another great joy of his life was designing and building his home in Cedar Hill. The home included floor to ceiling picture windows that showcased the Fort Worth skyline at night. Ben loved people, had a wonderful sense of humor and championed the underdog. In his retirement years, he did extensive genealogical work on his family. Ben was predeceased by two daughters, Bonnilyn and Faye, both of whom died in infancy.
