S. W. Dobbins was born June 13, 1819, in the county of Entrum, Ireland, came to America a t the age of 2 years and located with his parents in Illinois, where he resided until the fall of '66 when he came to Kansas and located in Osage Mission. He was married to V.A. Stewart in Illinois Feb. 25, 1858. He was the father of seven children, four of whom survive him. He united with the M.E. church in 1887 and remained a faithful member until his death which occurred in this city, Friday, April 7, 1905. For several years his health had been very poor and most of the time he was confined to his room.
The funeral services were held at the M.E. Church Saturday afternoon and the remains now rest in Hope Cemetery.
