Chesapeake - Gregory Worth Jennings, 52, passed away August 2, 2017. Greg was born on January 20, 1965, to Beth Hackworth Jennings and the late Cecil W. Jennings. Greg faithfully served the Chesapeake Public School system for 29 years. He began his teaching and coaching career at Deep Creek High School. Greg then returned to his alma mater, Great Bridge High School, to become a teacher, baseball coach and eventually the school's athletic director.

Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Beth Jennings; siblings, Cecilia "Cissy" Jennings Zaharia and her husband, George, and Cecil W. Jennings II and his wife Sherry and nieces and nephew, who truly loved him, Brittany and Hailee Jennings and Hannah and Caleb Zaharia.

The family will receive friends at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Chesapeake on Sunday August 6, 2017, from 4pm until 6pm. A celebration of Greg's life will be held on Monday, August 7, 2017, at 2pm at Great Bridge Baptist Church, 640 S. Battlefield Blvd, Chesapeake, VA 23322. The family invites you to join them following the services at the home of Cecil and Sherry Jennings. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Gregory W. Jennings Athletic Scholarship c/o Towne Bank, 137 Mt. Pleasant Rd, Chesapeake, VA 23322
Attn: Karen Gowne. This scholarship will be given to a student athlete that has demonstrated academic excellence and displays the qualities and characteristics of a true Wildcat. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.altmeyerfh.com.
