Ronald M. "Ron" Gentry, 67, passed away on Thursday, July 7, 2022 at his residence in Jennings, Florida. Mr. Gentry was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on November 17, 1954 and was son to the late Clarence Robert Gentry and Juanita Ruth Gentry. He served in the US Navy and after service began working in the Social Services with Community Development and served as the Director of ARC in Gainesville.
Mr. Gentry lived a full life. He loved golfing, fishing, and working with electronic repairs and computers. He was a lover of sports and was known in high school for his all-state level wrestling awards and football playing. He enjoyed listening to music, and could often be found playing football, golf, and basketball with his family.
Ultimately, Mr. Gentry loved God and sought to serve and honor Him with his life. Ron was an incredibly devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He met the love of his life, Vicki (Rhoden) Gentry in 1978 in Jacksonville, FL, and they were married on April 28, 1979. They celebrated 43 happy years of marriage together before his passing. Mr. Gentry devoted every day to loving and supporting his wife and three children.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother: Robert "Bobby" Gentry. He is survived by his wife of 43 years: Vicki Gentry; 3 children: Elizabeth "Elisa" Victoria McManus (Luke), Jonathan Michael Gentry and Jacob Matthew Gentry; 3 brothers: Mike Gentry (Barbara), Steve Gentry and Rich Gentry; sister: Tina Ruth Deibel and a grandson: Elijah Robert McManus.
A funeral service will be held at 12:30 PM on Thursday, July 14, 2022 at the Event Center at Peeples, 14165 N. Main Street (Building C). Burial will follow in Jacksonville National Cemetery. His family will receive friends from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the funeral home prior to the service.
