She grew up in Houston, TX before moving to Louisiana in 1969. She had lived in New Orleans and Thibodaux before moving to Baton Rouge. She was an honors graduate in English from the University of Houston in 1968, and earned her Masters in Social Work from Tulane University in 1974. In 1977, she was licensed as LCSW. She married William in November of 1972 in New Orleans, LA. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bruce Shirley Munsil and Virginia Claisse Munsil; and sister, Karen Ann Munsil. Surviving are her husband, William Estevens; sister, Norma Barnes; and numerous nephews.
