Paul J. Jones, 75, of Clifton, N.J., passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2022. He was born in Irvington, NJ and grew up in Newark, NJ. He was a lifelong resident of Belleville, NJ, before moving to Brick and most recently moving to Clifton, NJ.

Paul was a proud Marine, who served in the Vietnam War. He became a South Orange Police Officer in 1971 and was later promoted to detective. He worked many other jobs he loved, one of his favorites was being the Executive Chauffeur for Barry Ostrowsky at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center, but took the most pride in taking care of his beloved wife, Jeanne, and spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great granddaughter. He had many hobbies, including finding sea glass at the Jersey Shore, telling jokes, doing cross word puzzles, and collecting coins. He was a member of the VFW Post 493 in Nutley, PBA Local 600, The American Legion Post #70, and the Marine Corps Association. He was known to his friends and family as Pop Pop, Poppy, Pops, PJ, and Uncle PJ.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Jeanne DeFabrizio, sons; Vincent DeFabrizio and Gabriel DeFabrizio Jr., parents Frank and Anna Jones (McNulty), brothers; Frank and Thomas Jones and beloved fur son, Brandy.

Funeral Service at the S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home, (www.swbrownandson.com), 267 Centre St., Nutley on Monday, July 18, 2022, at 2pm.

Visitors will be received at the funeral home on Sunday, July 17th from 1 – 5pm. On Monday, July 18th, all are invited to attend a Military Farewell at 1:30 pm, with repast to follow at The Chandelier in Belleville, NJ. Cremation will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Wounded Warrior Project.
