Charles was born in Temple, Texas, to George Martin and Mary Christine (Davis) Petzold. At an early age, his family moved to Waco and he was a 1965 graduate of University High School. On February 12, 1966, he married Carole Loney in Waco. Charles was employed as a meter reader for TP&L and later as a welder fabricator for Davis Iron Works in Waco. In 1993, he moved to Eddy and was a member of Beverly Hills Baptist Church in Waco. Throughout his life, he enjoyed golf, go-cart racing, bowling, and in later years, his grandchildren.
Survivors include his former wife, Carole Turner, of Garland; sons, Chris Petzold and wife, Caryn, Curtis Petzold and wife, Kristi, both of Eddy, Clint Petzold and wife, Ashlea, of Wylie and Clay Petzold and wife, Corrie, of Frisco; and grandchildren, Matthew Hambrick, Michael Petzold, Trent Petzold, Bailey Petzold, Bradey Montgomery and Brooks Petzold.
