David Allen Craig, 71, of Shelbyville, passed away Thursday, July 14, 2022 at his residence.

Born May 10, 1951 in Shelbyville, he was the son of Carl Craig and Virginia(Jackson)Craig.

Survivors include brother, Daniel Craig/Gregg Smith of Franklin; sister - Carla Black of Shelbyville; nephew, Aaron Black of Indianapolis and 2 great-nephews of Indianapolis.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Craig was a lifetime resident of this area and was a custodian at Shelbyville High School for 30 years, retiring in 2016.

He graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1969, graduated from Ball State University in 1973 and was a member of Shelbyville Community Church.

David was a member of Mid State Amateur Radio Club, Indianapolis Radio Club and Former Shelby County Historian.

David loved genealogy and writing about Shelby County history. He loved traveling in conjunction with his historical writings, keeping up with family and friends on Facebook, and spending time with his family. He loved amateur radio and radio communications.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 18, 2022 at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Rd, with Pastor Merry Popplewell officiating.

Burial will be in London Cemetery.

Friends may call on Monday morning from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
