World's Smartest Parrot. He was an African Grey parrot, who gained International fame for his exceptional communication skills. Together with Dr. Irene Pepperberg, a comparative psychologist at Brandeis University, Massachusetts, he established himself in TV shows, scientific reports and news articles as the world's most intelligent bird. He knew his colors, numbers, shapes of objects, more than 150 English words and could hold conversations with people. His studied progress and works were published reports in scientific journals world wide. Alex's death came as a complete surprise, he was found to be in good health at his recent annual physical two weeks before his death. According to a press release issued by the Alex Foundation, the vet who conducted the necropsy, posted the Pathology results: Alex had a sudden, unexpected catastrophic event associated to a heart attack or stroke.
