Mrs. Carter was born June 4, 1925 in Surry County to Charlie and Eunice Martin Simmons.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Coy Watson Carter; sisters, Carol Adkins, Annie Gaither, Irene Shore, Kathleen Widner; brother, Lawrence Simmons; sons-in-law, Jimmy Shore and Frank Shaffner.
Survivors include her daughters, Carolyn Shore, Jeanette Moxley and her husband Jim, Shirley Hill and her husband Tommy, Lynn Wilmoth and her husband Rick; son, Ronnie Carter; sister, Helen Neese; nine grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; and grand-dog Sock.
A funeral service will be conducted Monday, July 18, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Central Full Gospel Church.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
