Ecclesiastes 3 says, "To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born," for Dad, that day was September 9, 1952 in Springhill, LA. "and a time to die;" Dad departed from the presence of man in this life and began his eternal life in the presence of Almighty God on July 12, 2022, having made his sojourn and pilgrimage 69 years, 10 months, and 3 days.

"A time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;" Dad was a good man, a very good man who looked after the needs of others. He spent his life serving his church, First Baptist Church Springhill, in numerous ways through leading the security team, teaching Sunday school, singing in the choir, helping with the media ministry, and serving however needed. He spent his life serving his neighbors by looking after their insurance needs, having worked for United, Kilpatrick Life, and Security National. He spent his life serving his community in many ways, all the way from City Hall as a Springhill City Alderman and on down to the local ballpark volunteering countless summers of his time.

"A time to weep, and a time to laugh;" With great sadness, Dad has laid to rest those of his family who have preceded him in death. But early Tuesday morning, there was a big family reunion in heaven. Dad celebrated in that heavenly reunion with his parents, Richard A. "Gus" and Dorothy Raby Williford Montgomery; his father-in-law, Ben David Vercher; his siblings, Nancy and Glenn Montgomery; among a host of other family and friends.

"A time to mourn." Dad is survived by his wife of 39 years, Diane Vercher Montgomery; children, Jonathan Montgomery and wife, Mandy, Matthew Montgomery and wife, Madison, Bretta Montgomery, Bryan Montgomery and wife, Jamie, and Alicia Montgomery; grandchildren, Max Montgomery, Ben Montgomery, Libby Phelps, Richard Montgomery, and Paige Montgomery. He is also survived by his siblings, Gloria Amis and husband, Gary, and Randy Montgomery and wife, Pat; mother-in-law, Shirley Vercher; brothers-in-law, Michael Vercher and John Darryl Vercher; sister-in-law, Denise Denmon and husband, Tim; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

As the family mourns, we feel as if Dad left us too soon but because of our faith we recognize that … "He (God) hath made every thing beautiful in His time" (Ecclesiastes 3:11).
