A twenty-nine-year-old Zachary Larney died after being viciously assaulted on July 25 outside Rumor nightclub on W. 6th Street.

Zach had sustained injuries from the attack and was in an induced coma for 10 days in the ICU unit at Metro Health Hospital and never regained consciousness.

"He was hit in the back of the head, knocked to the ground and another gentleman got on top and was hitting him while he was unconscious," Larney's mother, Debra explained.

"I'm angry, but I forgive these two young men. They have robbed me of my son. They robbed his children of a wonderful father. They robbed their families of the joy they could have had had they been doing other things," said Debra Larney, who is taking comfort in hundreds of comments, reflections, prayers and praise flooding Larney's social media.

"It's crazy to think that someone who put out so much positive energy in this world is no longer here.

"My heart is so heavy right now. Another life lost to violence. This time it hits close to home. RIP Zach Larney."

Debra Larney reads them, with tears in her eyes and says, "This was a black on black crime. My son loved everybody. I'm so distressed by this anger towards each other and the violence of young people. I don't understand it."

According to Debra Larney, the two men who were arrested had originally been arraigned on felonious assault charges and it's her understanding they will most likely be looking at murder charges now.

The attack took just seconds and ultimately ended his life and forever changed the lives of many more. He is the father of 3-year-old Kennedy and 2-year-old Zayden.
