James "Glen" Ward, age 78 of Cleveland, Tennessee passed away on Monday, July 11, 2022 in Mobile, Alabama.
He was born on April 29, 1944 in Carson, Mississippi. He was an active member and served as an usher at Peerless Road Church of God of Prophecy in Cleveland, TN.
He graduated from Forest Hill High School in 1962. He retired as a Master Licensed Merchant Marine with Hornbeck Offshore Services, Inc. He served in the United States Army from 1962 to 1966.
Glen was very family oriented and loved spending time doing anything his grandkids and great-grandkids wanted to do such as Dollywood, Disney World, or white water rafting down the Ocoee River. He loved the mountains, traveling, camping, and showing off his family. He will be missed by his family, friends, and his church family; especially their lunch dates after Sunday church services.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Oliver Ward; mother, Elmer Candace Russell; father and mother-in-law, Doyle Hudson and Margaret Joyner; maternal grandparents, Albert and Stella White.
He is survived by his loving wife of sixty years, Margaret Joyner Ward; children, Donna (Vince) Trebotich of Moss Point, MS, Selina (Keith) Davis of Lucedale, MS. And Jeff (Jodi) Ward of Riceville, TN; grandchildren, Matthew Doyle Sturgill of D'Iberville, MS, Gabrielle Glyn (Chris) Strong of Ocean Springs, MS, Carmon Elizabeth (Michael) Baxter of Mobile, Al, Kyndall Rene (Garrett) Mittan of Starkville, MS, and Bracken Ward of Riceville, TN; great-grandchildren, Emma Presley Grimes and McKenna Renee Mittan; and siblings, Jack (Gajuena) Ward of Silver Creek, MS, Herschel (Diane) Russell of Terry, MS, and Maurice (Teresa) Russell of Brandon, MS.
The family would like to extend a thank you to medical staff of USA Medical Center NSICU for giving Glen their superior care.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 18, 2022 at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, Ocean Springs, MS. Friends may visit one hour prior.
Burial will follow at Crestlawn Memorial Park, Ocean Springs, Mississippi.
