Russell Lee Gill, age 65 of Appleton, passed away on Sunday, August 7, 2016 at his home. Russell was born on September 10, 1950 to the late Alfred and Harriet (Matson) Gill in Appleton. He served his country during the Viet Nam era in the United States Army. Russell was a truck driver, over the road and short trips; he enjoyed hunting, golfing, bird watching and fishing, especially trout fishing. He really enjoyed spending time at his cottage, and visiting with friends and family.

He is survived by his siblings; James Gill, Judith (Richard) Plisch, Edith (Dennis) Nack, Joanne Shepherd, John Gill, Rodney Gill, Margaret Gill, Carol (Joseph) Schroetter, Diana Gill, Linda (Gregg) Woldt and Daniel (Doreen) Gill, nieces and nephews; Turi Watson, Brent Plisch, Jonathan Nack, Michelle Gust, Geoffry and Jeremy Shepherd, Christine and Leeanne Gill, Bryce and Spencer Benlon, Jennifer Jochman, Jeremy Schroetter, Joshua, Adam, Zachary and Tyler Woldt, Travis and Jacob Gill. He is further survived by several great nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his special friend, Sassy his cat, sister in law, Andrea Gill, as well as his nephew, Kristfer Schroetter and niece, Danielle Gill.

A funeral service for Russell will be held at 7:00pm on Thursday, August 11, 2016 at Valley Funeral Home, with Pastor Mike Huff officiating. Visitation will take place from 5:00pm until the time of service at the funeral home.

Memorials in Russell's name can be made to the Wounded Warriors Project.
