He was born in Rensselaer, IN on September 14, 1940, the son of Albert Edwin and Ruby Viola (Chamberlain) Smith.
Harold married Beverly Premer on August 3, 1961, and she preceded him on October 9, 2018.
Harold was a 1958 graduate of Mt. Ayr High School in Newton County and a member of the Oakdale Baptist Church. He worked as an Engineer, retiring from N & W Railroad.
Harold is survived by his children Anthony (Kim) Smith, Andrew Smith and Jennifer (Chad) White; grandchildren Jessa (Kyle) Pittman, Hevin (Paul Wieland) Smith, Blaize Smith, Josh (Elizabeth) White, Issacc White, Sarah White, A.J. Smith and Joe (Ashley) Smith; and great grandchildren Maddox Pittman, Zhane Pittman, Alex Smith, Xylon Smith, Nevaeh Smith, Xavier Smith and a soon to be adopted additional great granddaughter.
In addition to his wife Beverly, Harold was preceded in death by his parents and brother Donald Smith.
Services celebrating the life of Harold W. Smith will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made through the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 W. Main St., Peru, IN to the Oakdale Baptist Church.
