From the Memorial Website for Gloria Thompson:

On Wednesday, July 13, 2022, Gloria Virene Thompson, beloved wife and mother, passed away at the age of 71.

Gloria grew up and lived most of her life in Southern California. A life-long learner, she was a lover of reading and literature, and books of every genre occupied every room of the house. She loved music and owned hundreds of treasured LPs, and loved The Kinks, The Beatles and any deeply melodic rock music. She was fascinated by science, and for many years had volunteered at the Youth Science Center, where her daughter Emily attended summer classes. She felt a deep connection with spirituality and the universe, and always felt happiest in nature surrounded by trees. She often reminisced fondly of the time she spent living in England, where she met her husband. She loved the rain.

Above all, she loved being a mom.

She is survived by her husband George and her daughter Emily. Following her wishes, she will be cremated. The family is holding a private ceremony and will scatter her ashes at sea near Morro Bay, one of her favorite places.

Gloria cared deeply about people and the planet. Below there are three charities that Gloria made regular contributions to. The family is asking in lieu of flowers to please make a donation in her name.
