🕊FUNERAL NOTICE | Leamington Spa Courier - 27 Jan 1883

FUNERAL OF MR HENRY CHRISTOPHER WISE
Twelve o'clock was the hour fixed for the funeral, and shortly before that hour the friends of the deceased, who had been invited to join the relatives in paying a last tribute of respect, assembled at Woodcote House—a handsome stone building in the Tudor Elizabethian style, situated in a well-wooded Park.

The funeral arrangements were of a quiet and unostentatious character—their very simplicity adding to the solemnity of the occasion ; and, as the solemn procession wended its way down the long drive from the deceased's mansion, the sight was most impressive. The coffin, which was of polished oak, bore the simple inscription on an engraved brass shield,
"Henry Christopher Wise, Esq., born Oct. 7, 1806 ; died Jan. 15, 1883."

It was borne upon a wheeling bier, and was literally covered with wreaths composed of the choicest flowers, sent by numerous friends.
