Thelma Luella "Loui" Johnson, 78, of Rexburg, Idaho, departed this earth on Monday, July 11, 2022. Loui was born at home in Ketchum, Idaho to John Willard Scarborough and Thelma Luella (Koehling) Scarborough on February 5, 1944. She married her college sweetheart, Stephen Morgan Johnson, on January 23, 1965, in Caldwell, Idaho. Loui and Steve had four children and were happily married for 54 years.
Loui grew up in Ketchum, Idaho. She attended Ketchum Elementary School and Hailey High School and was part of the National Honor Society. She attended the College of Idaho, receiving her bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and her master's degree in Multimedia Education at Portland State University.
Loui was an educator for most of her life with over 20 years teaching elementary school in Jerome, Idaho and in Vancouver, Washington where she was also a school librarian/media specialist in Vancouver, Washington.
A convert to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Loui was baptized on April 1, 1962, in Hailey, Idaho, in the Ketchum/Sun Valley branch. She had several church callings in the Boy Scouts of America program, Relief Society President, seminary teacher, primary teacher, and served as a service missionary along with her husband in the Alief Ward in Sugar Land, Texas. Loui and Steve were sealed together for all time and eternity on March 7, 1975, in the Salt Lake City Temple.
Loui's hobbies included sewing, traveling, riding her bike, and in her youth ice skating at the Sun Valley Lodge which was next to where she grew up. She was always loving and kind, and most important to her was being with family and seeing her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Loui was preceded in death by her parents, John Willard Scarborough and Thelma Luella (Koehling) Scarborough; her siblings: Wilber Scarborough, Ressie Ebhart, Kermit Scarborough, Virginia Matson, Barbara Scott, Billie Scarborough, Kathy Birkenfeld, Jim Scarborough; her husband, Stephen Morgan Johnson; her daughter, Patricia Johnson; her grandson, Sjon Trent Johnson; and her granddaughters, Maegen Alexandria Johnson, Tristen Luella Johnson, and Madeliene Dianna Johnson.
Loui is survived by her three children, Casey Johnson (Pearlette) (Richmond, TX), Shaleign Galbraith (Joel)(Rexburg, ID), and Andi Simiskey (Matt)(North Charleston, SC); her 11 grandchildren; four great-grand daughters, and a great-grandson; her siblings: Russ Scarborough (Vancouver, WA), Richard Scarborough (Idaho Falls, ID), Mary Lance (Meridian, ID), as well as many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2022, at Flamm Funeral Home located at 61 North 1st East, Rexburg, Idaho 83440, at 10:00 a.m. Viewing will be held at the same location from 9:00-9:45 a.m. Interment at Rexburg Cemetery, Rexburg, Idaho following the funeral.
