Bertha Fischer Garrett, 93, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, departed this life for her place in heaven Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2008.
Funeral: A celebration of her long and precious life will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church of Hurst. Interment: Greenwood Memorial Park.
Bertha was born July 23, 1914, in Holiday, as one of 10 children of Czechoslovakian descent. She was a devoted Christian, amazing cook and faithful friend to many. She was married to D.H. Garrett for 53 years, whom she now joins in heaven.
Bertha Garrett, better known as "Nonnie," will be remembered for her love of life, sense of humor and service to others.
Survivors: Her legacy of love continues with her precious and devoted daughter, Jean Merrell; her grandchildren, Diane Merrell, Earl and Rebecca Merrell; great-grandchildren, Emily and Garrett Merrell and Merrell and Kendall Milano; her sisters, Katherine Spearman, Margaret Hamblen and Martha Turk; and numerous nieces and nephews.
