Betty Gibson passed away in the early morning of July 11, 2022 at the age of 89. Born in Powhatan, WV on June 7, 1933, she was a beloved wife, devoted mother, and cherished grandmother and great-grandmother.

For those that knew her, she was quite the character. Stubborn, funny, fierce, adventurous, and loving are some of the best ways to describe her. Quick to say yes to a road trip, a concert, a new restaurant, and maybe even a fight, she kept her family and friends on their toes.

Her laughter and smile will be missed by so many, but her unconditional love and her biscuits and gravy will be missed by her family most of all.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Nellie and Samuel Eastep, her sister Shirley Phillips, and her brothers, Samuel Jr. and John Eastep.

She is survived by her husband Millard Gibson; her daughters Rita Murray and Carolyn Bowen; granddaughters Fame Black and Tiffany Duty; great grandchildren Dylan and Jaydah; her brother Harold "Bud" Eastep; sisters Annabelle "Sue" Bailey and Wanda Rose and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of her life will be held at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell, WV on Thursday, July 14, 2022 at 1:00 PM with Minister Conway Hutton officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Friends may call from 12:00 PM until the time of service. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.cravens-shares.com. Cravens-Shires Funeral Home is serving the Gibson family.
