Helen Marie Smith, age 94, of Monona, passed away on Monday, July 11, 2022. She was born on Jan. 25, 1928, in Mauston, WI, daughter of John and Emma (Webster) Onsager.
Helen married Paul Smith on June 10, 1950. She worked in retail as a manager at Bormann's and Mother-To-Be stores. Helen and Paul built a family together and created fond memories dancing and traveling after retirement. Helen found joy in music, decorating and preparing family Thanksgiving feasts.
Helen is survived by her children, Michael (Marla), Daniel (Wendy), Robert (Ann) and Mary (Dennis Haas); grandchildren, Jessica, Carly (Kevin), Kyle (Danielle), Nicole (Michael) and Lisa; and great-grandchildren, Stella, Westley, Sawyer, Cassius and Josephine; brother-in-law, Dean Smith; sister-in-law, Marilu Smith; and many nieces and nephews around the country.
She was preceded in passing by her parents; husband; all siblings, Virginia (Kendall) Hilts, Yva (Orville) Van Dusen, Frieda (Vernon) Fobes, Mildred (Virgil) Ketelboeter, Robert (Vera) Onsager and Lynn Onsager; and life-long friend, Rosie Werren. She was the last of the original Mauston Onsagers.
Interment will be held at Highland Memory Gardens.
