Hiram shares his headstone with his wife Alvira A. Prindel. Efforts were made in the past to upright the stone, but without success.

Hiram is the son of James S. and Mary (Farnam) Prindel. He married Alvira Angeline Goodwin on September 5, 1856 at Beloit, Wisconsin.

Civil War Service: Hiram enlisted as a Private in the Co. B 7th Reg. 111 Calvary Volunteers at Lightsville, IL on September 5, 1861. He was 26 years old, 5'7", black eyes, med. complexion, married, born in VT, residing in Durand, Winnebago, IL. He had his own horse. He was under Grant's Command and was in on Sherman's March to the Sea. He was stationed at LaGrange, TN.
Hiram was discharged on October 15, 1864. Received honorable discharge papers in Gaylord, KS on November 18, 1893. Joined Gaylord post by Muster on February 20, 1892.
