William Denton Alexander, a resident of New Richmond, Ohio, passed away peacefully and surrounded by his loving family at the Ohio Veterans Home in Georgetown, Ohio on July 10, 2022, at the age of 96. He was born in Somerset, Kentucky to the late Leona and William R. Alexander.

Denton was survived by his wife of 70 years, one daughter, two grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and one sister. He was preceded in death by his son Denton Wayne Alexander, grandchildren Christy, Matthew, and Billy Alexander, and his brother Kenneth.

Denton was a devoted Christian who was very active for many years at the New Richmond Church of Christ. A singer and guitarist virtuoso, he was known to fill a room with his larger-than-life personality, quick wit, and a gospel hymn or bluegrass tune. As he would fondly say, he was "buck Sergeant" in the 43rd Engineer Construction Battalion, U.S. Army, where he served valiantly in the Pacific theater during WWII.
