Elizabeth Beckett Eskew, 88, of Abingdon, Va., went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 3, 2022, at Ballad Hospice House in Bristol, Tenn.

She was born on August 23, 1933, in Athens, W.Va., to the late Thomas Allen Beckett and Pauline Eliot Roles Beckett. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Ray T. Eskew; and one sister, June Kantor.

Elizabeth was a graduate of Concord College in Athens, W.Va. She was a lifelong educator and began her teaching career in Mercer County, W.Va. She and Ray moved to Abingdon, Va. in 1968 where she taught many years in Washington County, Va., before retirement. Elizabeth was a member of Abingdon Baptist Church.

She is survived by special friends, Jeff and Dianah Beverly of Bristol, Tenn.; and her church family.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, July 13, 2022, at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton, W.Va., with Pastor Bill Bryan officiating. Those wishing to attend are asked to gather at the cemetery by 10:45 a.m.

In lieu of flowers memorial gifts are suggested to Abingdon Baptist Church, 361 West Main St., Abingdon, Va., 24210, or Faith In Action, P.O. Box 2419, Abingdon, Va., 24212.
