Mary Pauletta McKay, 68 passed away at Medical City Hospital, Lewisville, Texas. She was born on November 16, 1953, in Memphis, Tennessee, to Paul Vines and Mary Vines.
She survived by her husband of 39 years, Robert: son Brent Thornton and wife Angie, daughter Misty McPhail: sister Linda and her husband Mark and her mom Mary Vines: Five grandchildren Lee McPhail, Brendon McPhail, Miranda Vollman, Karen Vollman and Laura Muras.
She is preceded in death by her father Paul Vines.
Mary McKay received her Associate Degree in Applied Arts and Science from Mountain View College in December 21, 1982. She worked for Lone Star Gas Company for two years. After her marriage to Robert she worked for Dallas Independent School District. She also volunteered for Whitton Fire Department and was the first female firefighter. She obtain her EMT certificate and worked for Careflite Ambulance Company for 5 years. Later she worked for Millwood Hospital for 17 years. She retired in 2016 and moved with Robert to Galveston. She always enjoyed the beach life, cruising, swimming, fishing, reading and doing crafts.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 17, 2022 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Restland Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Monday, July 18, 2022
