TOLLEY – Donald Christian Peterson, 96, Minot, formerly of Tolley, died Friday, July 8, 2022, at a Mohall nursing home.
He was born March 27, 1926, on the family farm in Roosevelt Township, Renville County, to Christ and Hattie (Mau) Peterson. He was raised and attended school for eight years in Roosevelt Township and graduated from Tolley High School in 1944. He started farming with his father in 1944.
Donald and Geraldine Keith were married June 20, 1948. They lived on a farm in Roosevelt Township where they resided for 60 years. He farmed for 66 years.
Donald served on many boards including Trinity Lutheran Church, Tolley, the church where he was baptized, confirmed and married. He was a member of the Roosevelt Township Board, Tolley Grain Growers, was a representative for Renville County on the North Dakota Wheat Commission, served on the Breeders Association, was a 4-H leader for the Roosevelt Pioneers and enjoyed getting young boys involved in agriculture and 4-H projects.
He was a member of the Tolley Senior Citizens, Old Settlers of Renville County and had a love for John Deere all his life. He received the Renville County Farmer of the year award. Donald will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Family: wife of 74 years, Geraldine Peterson, Minot; daughters, Kathleen (Donald) Raap, Tolley, and Connie (Rick) Skalsky, Minot; daughter-in-law, Pauline Peterson, Kenmare; seven grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Donald was preceded in death by: his parents; son, David Peterson; brothers, James and Comart Peterson; sisters, Dorothy Paulson, Mary Ann Hood and Sylvia Hillestad; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral: 11 a.m., Friday, July 15, 2022, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Tolley.
Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, rural Minot,
Family Service: 10:30 a.m., Friday, at the church.
