William Henry Cannon, 75, of Cambridge, departed this life on Saturday, June 18, 2022.

He was born September 2, 1946 in Wilmington, Delaware to the late Pauline and William Cannon, Sr.

He was educated in the public schools of Dorchester County, graduating in the class of 1964 from Mace's Lane High School in Cambridge, MD.

After Mace's Lane, he moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to live with his brother, Worthy, where they both pursued their love for music, Worthy, the bas guitar and William, the drums. While playing with different bands in the Philadelphia area, William met Teddy Pendergrass. At that time, Teddy was the drummer for Harold Melvin and the Bluenotes. Teddy asked William to be his replacement on the drums because he was leaving the Bluenotes to begin his solo singing career. William agreed and played with Harold Melvin and the Bluenotes for a year, until Uncle Sam called.

January 1968, William was drafted into the United States Army, where he served a tour in Vietnam and received several honors and medals.

Once honorably discharged from the Army, William returned to Philadelphia and worked as a Heat Treater making coins for the United States Mint until he retired.

After retiring, he moved to Cambridge where he acquired the nickname "Family". He was so happy to be back home and everyone he met was family to him. He loved to talk and laugh and he loved a good meal. Cambridge is also where he met the love of his life, Cora Thompson. You didn't see one without the other. Their love has lasted over 30 years and will continue into eternity.

He leaves to cherish his memories, one brother, Coldridge Worthy Brown of East New Market, one sister, Lena Sampson of Suitland, MD, one nephew, Gregory Brisco of Cambridge, MD, his best friend, caretaker and soul mate, Cora Thompson, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Special thanks to David, Troy, and Robert Thompson and Donna Kane.
