Michelle Ann Porter (nee' Moland), of Saginaw Township, died in faith and moved on to eternal life with Our Lord and Savior on Wednesday, January 1, 2020.
The daughter of Herbert and Dee Ione (Antoine) Moland who preceded her in death. Michelle was born on October 29, 1963, in New Orleans, LA. Michelle grew up in Los Angeles, CA and was a graduate of Bishop Conaty Girls' High School. She later attended Marinello School of Beauty in 1982 earning a license in Cosmetology.
As she grew older her interests became wide and varied. She initially pursued a career in Cosmetology and later became a small business owner of an up and coming house cleaning business in Atlanta, GA. She also worked towards becoming a novice house flipper. However, due to a job transfer to Shreveport, LA and later Saginaw, MI, during the course of Daryl's career, Michelle was forced to shutter the business.
Michelle was passionate about her love for animals. She was a fervent supporter of animal rights and it was not uncommon for her to post social commentary on the topic of animal cruelty on her Facebook page. Throughout her entire life she would bring home stray animals under the pretext of fostering them only to end up adopting them herself. It was not uncharacteristic for Michelle to come across a stray dog or cat and nurse them back to health. She volunteered her time and talents, as well as made donations, to a local women's shelter. She was a devoted member of Calvary Baptist Church in Midland, MI. She was a surrogate mother to many and often opened her home to those seeking a few kind words, a warm meal and a safe harbor to rest. Throughout the peaks and valleys of her life and despite suffering from chronic, debilitating illness.
Michelle was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She will be missed by her beloved husband.
